Barcelona continue to make headlines across Europe—not only for what’s happening on the pitch but also for the movement of legendary figures off it.

While Hansi Flick’s side is focused on finishing the season strong, with key matches in both La Liga and the Copa del Rey on the horizon, developments beyond the top tier are drawing attention.

The return of Marc-Andre ter Stegen to full training has lifted spirits, but questions remain over Wojciech Szczesny’s place in the side, as the Polish veteran continues to get the nod in key fixtures.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s former heroes continue to leave their mark in football circles, whether in coaching, punditry or mentorship roles, with fans always eager to track their post-retirement paths.

Now, one of the most iconic figures from the club’s golden generation is stepping back into the limelight.

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has officially returned to coaching after a four-year hiatus, taking the reins at Spanish fourth-tier side Real Avila, as reported by Sport.

Victor Valdes, now 43, has agreed to lead the club through the remainder of the season and the next, with promotion to the third tier in sight.

After a glittering 21-year career that included 654 appearances and 275 clean sheets, Valdes is best remembered for his transformative impact between the sticks at Camp Nou, particularly under Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola.

Despite his brief and turbulent stint coaching at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, where he departed after clashing with club officials, Valdes remains a deeply respected figure across Spain.

His latest assignment at Real Avila marks a fresh start in a more modest setting, with early reports confirming he has already taken charge of his first training session.

Though his previous coaching ventures have yielded mixed reviews—some praising his tactical insights, others questioning his temperament—Valdes remains committed to forging a successful path on the touchline.

Real Avila currently sit in the promotion spots in Segunda RFEF with just two games remaining, and the former Barcelona number one is tasked with guiding them across the finish line.

For a man whose career was built on bold decisions and fearless moments, this new challenge seems fitting.
