Barcelona’s preseason optimism has been dampened by off-pitch struggles.

All eyes in Spain are on how Barcelona’s own reshuffling is progressing under Deco and Laporta.

The Catalan giants remain in the spotlight after recently unveiling their €40 million sponsorship agreement with Congo.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury complications are now playing a pivotal role in Barcelona’s immediate transfer decisions, with timelines still unclear.

With players like Clement Lenglet and Ansu Fati already out the door, the club’s current situation highlights just how tight the balance remains.

Now, the latest issue drawing attention in Catalonia revolves around Barcelona’s inability to register Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia.

Despite both deals being completed in principle, neither player has been officially registered due to continued financial restrictions.

Barcelona have not yet returned to the 1:1 rule, which would allow them to freely register new players, and won’t reach it unless they generate significant revenue.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the club may still proceed with signings using the salary margin generated through player departures and other commercial income.

So far, an estimated €22 million margin has been freed up following the exits of Pablo Torre, Pau Victor, Ansu Fati, and Lenglet.

The Congo deal is worth €40 million over four years, but only €10 million can currently be factored in, pending LaLiga’s approval.

Registration for Joan Garcia, meanwhile, will depend on the official injury assessment of Ter Stegen.

If the goalkeeper is ruled out for at least five months, Barca can allocate 80% of his wages toward signing Garcia.

But if he’s only sidelined for four months, that number drops to 50%, leaving a much smaller margin.

Barcelona are reportedly trying to close a €100 million Fair Play gap, and while not back to 1:1 rule, there’s still flexibility to manoeuvre.

The quickest fix may come via outgoing sales, and Andreas Christensen is reportedly being considered as one of the potential sacrifices to ease the burden.
