Barcelona find €10m offer ‘insufficient’

Girona are trying very hard to sign Barcelona’s Eric Garcia this January.

With less than two weeks remaining in the January transfer window, there seems to still be uncertainty around a few players at Barcelona

Ansu Fati has been linked with numerous Premier League clubs but it is understood the La Masia graduate does not want to leave on loan.

Another player who is also attracting plenty of interest from English sides is Andreas Christensen, but it is expected that Hansi Flick will want to keep the Danish defender.

Eric Garcia is another Barça player who has been rumoured with departing the Catalonian side this month.

However, reports close to the club claim that the German coach wants to keep the former Man City player due to him being able to play in defence and midfield.

Despite these claims, Mundo Deportivo are reporting that the Blaugrana are set to meet with Girona to discuss Garcia.

It states that the Spanish defender has given the go-ahead for any potential deal, but that the €10million fee that is being touted is ‘insufficient’.

Quique Cárcel, the Blanquivermells sporting director, has been very open about the fact his side want to resign Garcia, who impressed on loan last year.

“We already wanted to bring him in in the summer. Our intention would be to try to bring him back but we depend on Barça being able to set conditions that are realistic for us and we can do it,” Carcel told DAZN.

One potential factor that could make this transfer happen is Fati’s refusal to leave this month, which is currently holding up Marcus Rashford arriving at Barcelona on loan.

The Blaugrana need to free up some wages and if selling Garcia, who is out of contract in 2026, provides those funds then it could be worth it.
