Ambitious transfer plans of FC Barcelona for the new season threaten their ability to register new summer signings.

FC Barcelona’s hopes of a seamless return to the revamped Spotify Camp Nou for the 2025/26 season are under threat as financial hurdles mount.

The club’s ongoing struggle with La Liga’s stringent salary limit rules has reached a critical point, with delays in a key financial deal potentially derailing their transfer ambitions.

The inability to secure funds from a crucial economic lever could prevent the registration of new signings and force the club to abandon plans to host the Joan Gamper Trophy at their iconic stadium, dealing a significant blow to their financial and competitive strategy.

The issue centers on the registration of Joan Garcia, Barcelona’s €25m summer signing from Espanyol, and Wojciech Szczesny, whose contracts remain unregistered due to the club’s failure to include a €100m VIP seats lease in their accounts, as per Football-Espana.

In January 2025, Barcelona secured this deal with Fort Advisors and New Era Visionary Group for 475 VIP seats at Camp Nou, but auditors Crowe removed the income in March, citing the seats’ non-existence.

Despite obtaining an events license from Barcelona City Council, the club still needs a second license to play at Camp Nou, and ongoing construction delays—now eight months behind schedule—jeopardize their financial recovery.

Without the €100m, Barcelona cannot register Garcia or Szczesny, and their pursuit of a new forward remains stalled.

The implications are dire for Barcelona’s transfer market strategy.

Director of Football Deco faces a race against time to secure alternative revenue sources, as La Liga’s 1:1 spending rule remains out of reach.

The club believes that completing the VIP seats could satisfy auditors, but this is uncertain and time-sensitive.

With Camp Nou’s return delayed until at least September, Barcelona’s financial woes deepen, potentially forcing player sales to balance the books.

Fans are left anxious as the club navigates this crisis, with the unregistered signings and stalled transfer plans threatening to undermine Hansi Flick’s vision for a competitive season ahead.
