Barcelona are putting the finishing touches to their preparations ahead of tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League showdown against Olympiacos, with the squad focused on maintaining momentum in Europe’s premier competition.
Training sessions this week have highlighted the team’s depth challenges, as several key players continue to battle injuries.
Hansi Flick has been monitoring recovery plans closely, hoping his top performers regain fitness in time for crucial fixtures.
Meanwhile, squad rotation and tactical adjustments remain a priority as Barcelona look to balance domestic and European commitments this season.
Amid this backdrop, injury concerns are mounting, with multiple first-team stars absent from training.
Robert Lewandowski, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Joan Garcia, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are all sidelined, ruling them out of tomorrow’s contest.
Raphinha and Ferran Torres are also still not training with the squad, leaving Flick with limited options in attack and wide areas.
Adding to Barcelona’s growing injury list, defender Andreas Christensen was absent from today’s session.
According to FCBRAC1, via X, the 29-year-old Danish international arrived at the Ciutat Esportiva this morning but did not step onto the pitch due to feeling unwell and returned home.
Despite this, he has not been officially ruled out for the Olympiacos game and could still feature in the squad list tomorrow, though a clearer update is expected during Flick’s press conference.
Christensen’s potential absence would be a significant blow for Barcelona, as the versatile Dane offers coverage in both central defence and midfield.
His ability to slot into multiple positions provides Flick with tactical flexibility, something that is now in short supply with the number of injured players.
So far this season, Andreas Christensen has made nine appearances across all competitions, though only three of those have been starts.
With a Champions League fixture looming, Barcelona will be hoping Christensen recovers quickly, as his inclusion could be vital in stabilising a depleted defensive line.
Flick and his coaching staff must now weigh up options carefully to ensure the Catalan giants remain competitive in Europe despite the mounting setbacks.
