Barcelona’s schedule may have slowed slightly due to the international break, but there is still plenty happening behind the scenes at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
With a large portion of the first-team squad away representing their countries, the focus has shifted to those remaining in Catalonia as preparations continue.
The coaching staff have taken this opportunity to work closely with a smaller group, blending senior players with rising talents from Barca Atletic and the U19 setup.
It’s a period that often goes under the radar, but one that can prove crucial in maintaining rhythm and fitness ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.
Several young names have stepped into the spotlight during these sessions, with academy prospects training alongside first-team regulars in a more intimate environment.
At the same time, a number of key players are being carefully managed following recent fitness concerns, especially after the intensity of European competition.
Barcelona’s medical team have made it clear that no risks will be taken during this period, particularly with important matches looming after the break.
That cautious approach has been most evident with Eric Garcia, who has been following an individual training plan on the pitch after concerns emerged during the recent Champions League clash against Newcastle.
While the initial fears surrounding his condition have now eased, the coaching staff are opting to take no chances, ensuring he regains full fitness before being reintegrated into full team training.
Eric Garcia has been working separately but intensively, focusing on recovery and sharpness as he builds towards a return, as Barcelona confirmed on their website.
Elsewhere on the training pitch, players such as Gavi, Marc Casado and Wojciech Szczesny were involved in the session, joined by a mix of youth talents including Tommy and Alvaro Cortes from Barca Atletic, as well as Baba Kourouma, Roberto Tomas, Nuhu Fofana and Alex Gonzalez from the U19 squad.
Alejandro Balde also followed an individual programme, while Frenkie de Jong and Jules Kounde continued their push to return to full fitness after the international break.
