Barcelona are closely tracking Colombian defender Jhon Lucumí, who has emerged as a key figure for Bologna and his national team.
According to AS, the Catalan club is intensifying its search for a centre-back ahead of the January transfer window, identifying Lucumí as a strong candidate to reinforce Hansi Flick’s defensive setup.
Lucumí’s consistent performances for Colombia and in Serie A have earned him significant recognition. Barcelona’s urgency stems from a depleted defensive lineup, with Ronald Araújo sidelined due to a long-term injury and Andreas Christensen recovering from recent surgery.
While Pau Cubarsí and Íñigo Martínez have provided some stability, the lack of depth became glaring during the recent 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo, where Barça squandered a late two-goal advantage.
The club is reportedly willing to activate Lucumí’s €25 million release clause, while Bologna could be open to a sale as his contract nears its final year.
