Joao Cancelo’s transfer saga appears to have reached a resolution.

Joao Cancelo’s transfer saga appears to have reached a resolution. According to Diario Sport FC Barcelona and Manchester City, with the assistance of Jorge Mendes, have resolved their differences, bringing the Portuguese defender a step closer to reuniting with the Catalan club.

It is understood that Barcelona has put forward a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option for June 2025, a proposition that appears to has convinced Manchester City.

Cancelo has also made concessions by adjusting his salary, clearing the path for a four-year contract with Barcelona.

It is anticipated that Barcelona will pay around 7 million euros this summer, in addition to the player’s fee, with a purchase option set at approximately 20 million euros to be paid next year.

Initially, Manchester City insisted on 25 million euros for Cancelo’s transfer but eventually had to revise their asking price. Despite the club offering Cancelo to various European teams, there was limited interest, and the player himself only wanted to join Barcelona.
