Barcelona and Man Utd join the race to sign Bundesliga invincible

Man United, Barcelona ‘make contact’ over deal for Bundesliga invincible.

Manchester United are reportedly set to rival Barcelona in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

The 28-year-old was recently linked to Barcelona, who are also said to be eyeing Bayern Munich and Canada full-back Alphonso Davies.

Tah was a key figure in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic 2023-24 season under Xabi Alonso, helping the team claim the Bundesliga title as unbeaten champions.

In addition to their league success, Leverkusen celebrated a DFB Pokal victory and reached the Europa League final, with Tah making 48 appearances and netting six goals throughout the campaign.

Since his 2015 move from Hamburger SV, Tah has earned a reputation as one of the Bundesliga’s top defenders.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, both Manchester United and Barcelona are interested in signing the centre-back when the current season concludes.

Tah’s contract with Leverkusen runs out after the 2024-25 season, meaning he can begin discussions with non-German clubs in January for a potential pre-contract agreement.

The defender’s agent recently confirmed that Tah will be leaving Leverkusen at the season’s end, paving the way for a move to another European giant.

After the international break, Tah is expected to return to Bundesliga action against Heidenheim on November 23.
