FC Barcelona will try to raise €140 million through the sale of three first-team players to pass La Liga’s financial fair play measures and to sign new players.

FC Barcelona enjoyed a historic domestic treble last season (2024/2025) and now feel the pressure of balancing their books while trying to bring in targets like Nico Williams, who has a €60 million release clause and is their priority.

Manager Hansi Flick is looking at a squad overhaul and therefore needs financial flexibility, and the sporting department is also led by Deco, who has stated the club can move players out of the financial framework.

The three players that the club will target for dropping will be Ronald Araujo, Marc-André ter Stegen, and Fermín López, as reported by Fichajes.

Ronald Araujo is a Uruguayan defender who will probably go for €40-60 million, despite showing inconsistent performance since returning from injury, with both Bayern Munich and Juventus showing interest at times in the last transfer window.

Marc-André ter Stegen is the club captain and goalkeeper, but is having an uncertain future with the arrival of Joan Garcia, and could go for €20-30 million, but his high wage will make a transfer more complex.

Fermín Lopez was one of the breakout finds last season with eight goals and ten assists, will be valued at €80 million and with many top clubs across Europe interested.

However, Flick is said to want to keep López and Eric Garcia, but there is tension because the club is weighing whether it needs the financial resources for squad depth.

As Barcelona looks to sell some of its stars to earn some money on transfers (and stay in compliance with La Liga’s 1:1 rule), it can invest in future transfers with the profit made from sales.

July is critical since Araujo’s release clause drops to €60 million. While some fans might be upset if these stars leave, Barcelona is committed to being competitive and takes this financial risk.
