Barcelona fans have barely had time to settle into the 2026/27 season, but attention is already turning towards what the Blaugrana could be wearing the following campaign.
Images of a potential Barcelona 2027/28 home kit have started circulating online, giving supporters an early idea of the direction Nike could take with the club’s next traditional shirt.
The design is still far from official, but the latest leak has caught attention because it appears to move Barcelona back towards a much more traditional aesthetic.
Footy Headlines has published what it describes as the first real images connected to the potential 2027/28 home shirt, although the outlet has stressed that the leaked product appears to have been produced from an earlier concept.
That means Barcelona supporters should not expect the leaked version to be an exact representation of the finished shirt, with Footy Headlines currently putting the accuracy of the design at around 80%.
The biggest change appears to be the way Nike has approached the famous Blaugrana stripes.
Rather than using a more experimental pattern, the leaked shirt features a much larger number of thin vertical blue and maroon stripes, giving it a noticeably more classic Barcelona appearance.
The proposed colour combination is also darker than the 2026/27 home shirt, with Nike reportedly using Blue Void and Deep Garnet across the main body.
That would represent a significant shift from Barcelona’s current shirt, which uses several different shades of blue and red to create a more modern interpretation of the club’s traditional colours.
The potential 2027/28 design instead appears to be leaning into simplicity, with the narrow stripes doing most of the work.
For a club with such a strong visual identity, that could make the shirt feel closer to some of Barcelona’s more recognisable traditional designs from previous eras.
While the stripes are familiar, it is the collar that could give the shirt its most noticeable throwback feel.
The leaked images show a classic polo-style collar with buttons, an element that would immediately separate the shirt from many of Barcelona’s recent home designs.
A polo collar has not been a regular feature on Barcelona’s home shirt for more than two decades, making its potential return particularly interesting for supporters who remember the club’s early-2000s Nike era.
The 2002/03 Barcelona shirt, for example, featured a navy polo collar with red trim and a heavily traditional striped design.
That makes the leaked 2027/28 design look less like a complete reinvention and more like Nike attempting to revisit elements of Barcelona’s older kit identity.
Nike also appears ready to introduce a third colour through the finer details.
The leaked design uses Mineral Yellow for the Nike Swoosh and sponsor branding, with yellow details also reportedly appearing elsewhere on the shirt.
That would give the darker blue and maroon base a much stronger contrast without taking away from the traditional Blaugrana identity.
The colour choice also follows a wider Nike approach seen in Barcelona’s 2026/27 collection, where Mineral Yellow has already been used alongside the club’s blue and red palette.
There had also been reports that Nike could bring back Barcelona’s original 1899 crest for the 2027/28 shirt, but that claim has since been disputed by sources within the club, so it should not be treated as part of the current design.
The latest leaked images appear to retain Barcelona’s current crest instead.
Despite the amount of detail already circulating, the 2027/28 home shirt remains an unofficial design and there is still plenty of time for Nike and Barcelona to make changes.
The kit is currently expected to be released in early summer 2027, meaning the club’s 2026/27 campaign will be well underway before the final version is officially revealed.
For now, the early images suggest Barcelona could be heading towards one of its more traditional home shirts in years, with narrow Blaugrana stripes, a retro-style collar and yellow detailing giving Nike’s next design a distinctly old-school feel.
