Tonight’s Spanish Super Cup final game against Real Madrid is by far the biggest of the season so far.
The much-anticipated tie is taking place in Saudi Arabia, as did the semi-finals, and heading into the game, Barcelona seem to be slight favourites.
However, this is El Clasico and anything can happen. Fortunately, the two teams have already faced off this season and to say Barça dominated the game would be an understatement.
The Blaugrana visited the Santiago Bernabeu and played Carlo Ancelotti’s side off the pitch, scoring four goals in the process.
Despite the previous result, form usually goes out of the window in these games and both coaches will know this.
Hansi Flick’s team pretty much picks itself, however, there are two positions that are up for grabs and it looks like the German coach has made his decision, according to AS, via ManagingBarca,
The report claims that Flick is set to select Gavi over Dani Olmo and Wojciech Szczęsny over Iñaki Peña.
Barcelona’s coach explained Peña’s absence against Athletic Club was due to him being late for three training sessions this season.
Meanwhile, Gavi is expected to start over Olmo due to the fact the 20-year-old has been playing more with the first team due to Olmo’s registration issue.
Whatever team starts, Barcelona is heading into the game with a very strong squad from which Flick can choose.
