Heading into the Copa Del Rey game against Real Betis, the main decision that Hansi Flick has to make is surrounding who will partner Pau Cubarsí.
The 17-year-old has formed a solid relationship with Ińigo Martínez this year but due to an injury he picked up in the Super Cup final against Real Madrid, the 33-year-old is sidelined for the next month.
Flick has a choice of two centre-backs, Ronald Araújo and Eric Garcia, however, with the Uruguayan currently having one foot out of Barcelona, it was not certain who the German coach would select.
Andreas Christensen could’ve been an option but the Danish defender is not available for this game, thankfully he is set to return for the Getafe tie on the weekend.
However, according to SPORT, via Managing Barca, the Barcelona manager is set to make the somewhat controversial decision to start Araújo.
There is no doubt that the 25-year-old is a better centre-back than Garcia, but if he does not want to play for Barça anymore then it raises question marks about his commitment.
Regardless, this could be Araújo’s last game for the Blaugrana so hopefully, he gives the fans a solid performance to remember him by.
