Barcelona could lose yet another star from their La Masia academy as the teenager is set to depart the club on a free transfer this summer.
With his current deal running out on June 30, he has yet to receive an offer from the Catalan giants, and his future is now hanging in the balance at the club.
According to Diario Sport, the player is Brian Farina.
Reports say that local and foreign clubs have substantial offers on the table for the young midfielder.
The 19-year-old, regarded as one of the top young prospects in the academy and the best friend of Lamine Yamal, has seen his contract situation left hanging in the balance following a string of impressive performances.
Farinas has become a regular for Juliano Belletti’s Juvenil A side, taking them to the Copa del Rey Juvenil and semifinal stage of the UEFA Youth League and their quest for the Division de Honor.
He has also played for Barça Atletic, making seven appearances in Spain’s third division.
Although this growing engagement with the second team has prompted other clubs to aspire to poach him, Barcelona’s hesitation to make his choice absolute has left the door ajar.
Farinas appears to be ready to seize such offers, given Barcelona’s apparent reluctance to renegotiate his contract status.
The club recently took advantage of a two-year extension for fellow academy product Jan Virgili, but not for Farinas, Arnau Pradas, Hugo Alba, and Tommy Marques – all whose futures are in doubt.
Although Barcelona has time but needs to turn the situation around, growing interest from other clubs and the player’s apparent readiness to make the move mean that Farinas’ departure is now more imminent than ever before.
Such a probable departure would be another cause of concern for La Masia, after instances of great talents leaving the club in the past due to mismanagement of their contracts.
For now, Farinas will hold out the season on a high with Juvenil A, who are chasing several youth titles, but his destiny appears to be elsewhere from Camp Nou unless Barcelona act quickly to turn the tide.
