After shining in the EURO last year, Lamine Yamal continues to make a name for himself. The youngster has gone on to become an undisputed starter for Hansi Flick’s side and was once again spectacular today with a brilliant and well-deserved goal and assist.

Lamine Yamal and the other players performed magnificently to help Barcelona become the first team to reach the Champions League quarterfinals, as the Catalan giants defeated Benfica 3-1 at home to win 4-1 on aggregate.

Lamine Yamal’s Goal and Assist Set New Record

Yamal, 17, became the youngest player in Champions League history to score and assist in the exact match.

Barcelona led 1-0 after the first leg, which was won by Raphinha’s second-half score, and the Brazilian maintained his hot streak by scoring his 26th and 27th goals of an outstanding individual season.

But the loudest cheer inside the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona was reserved for Yamal’s goal, in which he stroked a delicate, looping strike into the corner with his left foot.

Nicolas Otamendi tied the match just two minutes after Raphinha’s opener. However, Hansi Flick’s sides were too good and dominated the rest of the first half, scoring all three goals.

Barcelona became the first team to reach the competition’s final eight, where they will meet the winner of the round of 16 match between Borussia Dortmund and Lille. The score was 1-1 entering Wednesday’s second leg in France.
