Yesterday, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid were part of one of the most entertaining Copa del Rey semi-finals ever.

Diego Simeone’s side went 2-0 up within the first six minutes thanks to goals from Julian Alvarez and Antonio Griezmann.

However, Hansi Flick’s side regained their composure and made a remarkable comeback, eventually leading 4-2.

Unfortunately for the Catalonian side, the last 10 minutes were as poor as they could be and goals from Marcus Llorente and Marcus Sorloth secured Atletico’s late comeback.

Hansi Flick slams Barcelona defence

Speaking in an interview after the game, via Managing Barca, Flick criticised the defence and explained how he plans to fix the issue.

“I am proud of my team, but I have to talk to them about the goals we conceded. It’s not easy to describe this match. We’re disappointed with the result, but the game was good.

“Our defence failed in the last 5-10 minutes. The fourth goal is incredible to me, we have to talk about it.”

The partnership of Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi has been very important this season but last night they collapsed and it could open the door for Ronald Araujo to return to the team.

However, Flick could just as easily keep trust in the backline which has been so impressive this season. Whatever happens, the German has a big decision to make.
