There are currently plenty of positions that Barcelona could focus on in the January or summer transfer market.

However, it is generally accepted that the two most important roles that Barca needs to focus on are the left wing and striker positions.

Even though Robert Lewandowski has been outstanding this season, scoring 26 goals and providing three assists, his contract is set to end in 2026 and he is not getting any younger.

If the 36-year-old was a few years younger then the Blaugrana would not have to worry about looking for a successor, unfortunately, though, he is in the twilight of his career.

Due to this, Hansi Flick’s side have been linked with many strikers, including Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

However, Adria Albets, via ManagingBarca, has reported that Barcelona’s ‘favourite’ target is Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

The Swedish international joined the Premier League side in 2022 from Real Sociedad and he cost the Magpies €70million.

Isak has been on fire this campaign, scoring 15 goals and providing four assists for Eddie Howe’s side.

Unfortunately, reports from England have claimed that Newcastle want close to £150million to let him leave next summer, however, if they miss out on Champions League football then they might be forced to sell him for a lot less.

If the price does drop then Barcelona will definitely be one of the clubs interested in Isak but if it stays at that astronomical fee then there would only be a small handful of clubs that could afford him and based on current circumstances, Barca are not one of them.
