Barcelona star Jules Koundé has offered a candid perspective on his waning passion for football over the weekend.

The French defender, widely regarded as one of the premier players in his position, has continued to enhance his reputation during the early stages of the current season.

Since transitioning from central defense to a full-back role, Koundé has fully embraced the shift, delivering standout performances. The 25-year-old has featured in all 17 of Barcelona’s matches across all competitions this term, proving instrumental at both ends of the pitch.

In addition to his defensive solidity, Koundé has made his presence felt in attacking situations, contributing one goal and four assists thus far.

A key figure under manager Hansi Flick, Koundé has solidified his status as Barcelona’s present and future solution at right-back.

However, fans of the Catalan giants may find cause for concern in the defender’s latest remarks about his evolving relationship with the sport.

In an interview with The Bridge, as reported by Marca, Koundé openly admitted that his love for football has diminished over time.

“I won’t lie—I don’t love football as much as I once did,” the former Sevilla standout confessed. “It used to be my passion. Now, it’s my job. When I first started, my life outside the game was secondary.”

Koundé’s honest reflections paint a picture of an athlete navigating the complex balance between professional demands and personal fulfillment.
