In their bid to reduce the squad size, Chelsea is facing hurdles in their attempts to offload Carney Chukwuemeka, leading to a shift in their exit strategy, according to The Sun.
The midfielder has not met the club’s expectations since his arrival from Aston Villa in 2022, managing only two goals in 27 appearances despite being just 20 years old.
Chelsea, therefore, is open to considering offers below the initial valuation of £40 million for Chukwuemeka, as they look to part ways with underperforming players.
Recent reports suggest that Chukwuemeka is being considered for a potential move to Barcelona, who can also look to sign him in case of a potential departure of De Jong or Gundogan.
His underwhelming performance has made him vulnerable as the club prioritizes trimming the squad size.
It is stated that financial limitations are complicating both Chelsea’s attempts to offload Chukwuemeka and his potential acceptance of a contract with another team, according to The Sun.
