As the 2024/2025 season looms, FC Barcelona appears to have pinpointed a potential successor for Sergio Busquets.
During the preseason tour, young talents Marc Casado and Marc Bernal from La Masia displayed their remarkable skills, particularly in a 2-2 draw against Manchester City and a 2-1 triumph over Real Madrid in El Clasico.
“We have several injured midfielders with great quality. When they come back, we’ll be a better team, and I think I’ve got enough players there,” said Hani Flick, hinting at the team’s depth in midfield.
Casado, being older than Bernal, is anticipated to secure more playing time in the upcoming season, while the 17-year-old Bernal has also left a strong impression on the coaching staff and is likely to remain with the first team.
SPORT’s Toni Juanmarti interpreted Flick’s words as a potential indication that Flick may not be seeking a new defensive midfielder from the board – and trusting Marc Casado to finally replace Sergio Busquets.
