Barcelona has put their hunt for a new defensive midfielder on hold in order to prioritize the acquisition of Dani Olmo. The pursuit of Nico Williams appears to be less promising, with club officials expressing doubts about a potential successful signing.
Deco is continuing to explore potential targets, and one player that has caught Barcelona’s interest recently is N’Golo Kante.
The 33-year-old, who impressed with France at Euro 2024, is keen to leave Al-Ittihad and make a return to Europe this summer.
MD reported that Deco had taken steps to bring Kante to Barcelona on a loan deal, but head coach Hansi Flick intervened and stopped the move.
Flick is focusing on prioritizing younger talents over Kante at the moment, and is currently relying on the existing squad players like Marc Casado and Marc Bernal.
