In the friendly match between Barcelona and Manchester City in Orlando, Florida, a promising talent emerged in the form of Gerard Martín, the young left-back.
In his first appearance with the first team, the 22-year-old showcased exceptional skills both in possession and defensively, leaving a lasting impression.
While Martín may not be a household name among Barça fans yet, he has certainly caught the eye of Hansi Flick’s coaching staff.
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Flick and his team have been impressed by Martín’s physical prowess, defensive capabilities, and his impact in the attacking half of the field.
As of now, Barcelona has not actively sought a backup for Alejandro Balde in the transfer market – if Martín continues to shine, there might not even be a need for a replacement.
It’s worth noting that Martín has declined numerous offers to leave the club this summer, demonstrating his commitment to carving out a path to the first team.
