Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola recently shared his deep respect for a key player at Barcelona. This comes ahead of City’s highly anticipated match against Barcelona today.
Despite the absence of various star players from both teams due to the extended summer break, many high-profile athletes are anticipated to take the field.
Among them is Robert Lewandowski, who is expected to play a pivotal role under Barcelona’s newly appointed manager, Hansi Flick, in the upcoming season.
During a press conference, Guardiola was asked about Barcelona’s seasoned striker. The former Barcelona manager took the opportunity to praise Lewandowski:
“Robert? Having worked with him, I’m acutely aware of his prowess on the field. His ability is unmatched. There was a time when he netted five goals in just nine minutes – it seemed implausible. When he’s in the box with the ball, it’s a genuine threat. He’s a phenomenal player. I genuinely hope he has an outstanding season.”
