Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has publicly responded to the recent speculation surrounding his contract extension, declaring his great satisfaction with his current position at the club.
According to Mundo Deportivo, during reports of a meeting between his agent, Pini Zahavi, and Barcelona officials to consider an extension, Flick wrote his feelings in a lengthy response, highlighting his contentment with the team setup.
He commended the “magnificent staff, fantastic experts, and professional players” at the club, labeling the improvement mentality as “unique” in his entire career.
The German manager spoke about the warm family environment at Barcelona as a “new experience” that he is enjoying thoroughly.
Although he acknowledges the problems that the club is facing, Flick keeps his eyes on the present and says that he doesn’t think ahead but goes “step by step, year by year.”
Having one year remaining on his contract—and possibly another—he is determined to complete his work on a high note, making his assistants happy as well with their jobs.
Looking ahead to upcoming matches, Flick dismissed any notion of complacency despite Barcelona’s dominant 4-0 first-leg win over Dortmund in the Champions League.
“You think I’ll be relaxed in Dortmund despite the 4-0 first leg?” he quipped, stressing the need to maintain high standards every game.
Hansi Flick emphasized the importance of unity between the coaching staff and players, noting that alignment in their footballing philosophy has been key to progress.
Hansi Flick identified defender Iñigo Martínez as a case study in leadership and flexibility, an “incredible” role model who best personifies devotion to the club.
As Barcelona sets its sights on its upcoming games, such as a clash against Leganés before the return fixture against Dortmund, Flick’s mind is fixed on ongoing development and providing performances that do justice to the club’s top-drawer status.
His cautious style and commitment indicate a trainer completely committed to Barcelona’s cause, irrespective of the duration of his eventual stay.
