Yesterday’s performance against Atletico Madrid will go down in the history books for Barcelona.
After being 2-0 down heading into the final 20 minutes, Hansi Flick’s team dug deep and pulled off a magical comeback.
Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal secured three important points in a very tight La Liga title race.
The Blaugrana are now back at the top of the league standings, level on points with Real Madrid but ahead on goal difference.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Flick praised his player’s mentality to produce such an important comeback.
“I admire my players so much. Not just on their physical capabilities, but on mental wise too.”
“My team’s mentality is incredible.”
Unfortunately for the German, yesterday’s game has had some effect on a couple of the players.
Mundo Deportivo have claimed that Inigo Martinez and Marc Casado have both picked up injuries during the game.
The duo have both been selected by the Spanish national team for this month’s international fixtures.
It is stated that Barcelona will contact the RFEF to make them aware of the injuries and it is expected they will both be excluded from La Roja’s squad.
The Blaugrana are already in talks with the Spanish Football Federation over rescheduling the Osasuna game, something which has led to another big disagreement between the two parties.
In place of Casado, Barca’s Gavi could be his replacement as he was not originally in Luis de la Fuente’s squad.
It is still not known how bad these injuries are but in the case of Martinez, he managed to play the full 90 minutes, hopefully meaning it is not serious.
Casado was replaced in the 67th minute but at the time it seemed more of a tactical decision by Flick.
Thankfully there is now a two-week break, giving both players plenty of time to rest and recover.
