When Xavi was announced as Barcelona’s manager in 2021, there was a Culer around the world that did not want him to succeed.

Unfortunately for the Spaniard, he came into the club at a very difficult time and financially the whole set-up was a mess.

Despite these challenges, Xavi still managed to win a La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup in 2023, an impressive haul when you consider what he was working with.

Xavi discusses highs and lows at Barcelona

In a recent interview, cited by Toni Juanmarti, Xavi was discussing what he was proud of during his time at Barcelona.

“Beyond the titles, I feel proud to have trusted the new generation. Fermín, Lamine, Cubarsí, Balde… They are the future of the club.”

The former Barca player also admitted that he made some mistakes, most notably his midfield selections.

“I admit that I made some mistakes. Busquets’ departure forced us to rethink our way of playing.”

Regardless of what happened, Xavi was dealt a bad hand and his time as Barcelona’s coach will not take away from his legendary status at the club, if anything it only embellishes it in some people’s minds.
