One of the strongest positions in Hansi Flick’s squad is currently midfield and to say he is spoilt for options would be an understatement.

The German coach currently has a plethora of talent and experience to choose from, something that has been very advantageous when playing games every three days.

Most recently, Flick has decided to play a midfield of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi. However, Fermin Lopez, Dani Olmo and Marc Casado have all been used in recent weeks too.

Barcelona’s interest in Arsenal’s Thomas Partey

Despite having such a strong midfield, Barcelona were recently linked with Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, who is set to be out of contract next summer.

However, Dídac Peyret, via Managing Barca, has claimed that despite these reports, the Blaugrana have no interest in signing Partey next summer.

The former Atletico Madrid player would bring experience but at 31-year-old his next contract will probably be his last big money deal.

Partey is currently on around €240k per week at Arsenal and with him set to leave for free, the side that signs him will most likely have to give him a very lucrative signing-on bonus.

The main reason why Barcelona most likely will not sign him is due to his age, as at 31-years-old, signing him would be a direct contrast of the type of players Joan Laporta and Deco have been targeting recently.
