Yesterday’s Copa del Rey was a perfect example of how explosive and fragile Barcelona can be as a team.

Hansi Flick’s side were exhilarating in attack but in the defensive third they collapsed numerous times, making life very easy for Atletico’s forward line.

Yes, Barca probably should have scored six goals but when you give a side that many clear-cut chances they are most likely going to take some of them.

Pedri takes blame for opening goal

Along with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, Pedri was probably one of the better players on the pitch, scoring a goal and providing many defence-splitting passes.

Despite his impressive display, in an interview after the game, via Managing Barca, Pedri spoke about how he was at fault for one of the goals against Atletico.

“Their first goal comes from a set piece and I lost my man. It’s completely my fault.”

It is true that Pedri lost Julian Alvarez at the back post but it should never have even reached the former Manchester City forward.

The Spaniard’s interview shows why he is rated as one of the best midfielders, despite his young age the maturity and leadership he shows is very impressive.

Hopefully, the Blaugrana can show why they are one of the best teams in the world in the second leg, dispatch Atletico at the Wanda Metropolitano and reach the final of the prestigious competition.
