Ahead of Tuesday’s Copa del Rey semi-final match against Atletico Madrid, Hansi Flick shared his thoughts on the lessons learned from the last league clash on the 21st of December 2024 and his preference for home and away legs in today’s press conference.

Hansi Flick has transformed Barcelona into title challengers, and the dream for the treble seems to be taking shape as the Catalan club sits in first position in the league, is in the semi-final of the Copa del Rey competition, and is in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Hansi Flick Talks on Copa del Rey Clash

Barcelona faced the Madrid club for the second time in the 2024/2025 season following an unexpected defeat to their rivals in the league.

Since that last match, Barcelona has not lost a game in 2025 and has scored over 40 goals in just 14 matches this year.

Amid the tense clash on Tuesday, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick said in today’s press conference that it doesn’t matter where his team plays first, and the thing he cares about most is winning.

With this elite mentality, the German coach has led the young Barcelona team to unbelievable heights this season.

Based on the lessons learned from the last match, he said, “We created chances and could have scored one or two more goals before Atletico found the net. That was the key moment we had to take our opportunities and finish the game.”

He said: “We are facing a strong team that has invested much money, which is why they have a solid squad. They have the best defense, so we expect a tough challenge.”

It remains to be seen how the German coach will line up his team tomorrow and if the team can translate the coach’s mentality into a win.
