Inaki Pena’s situation at Barcelona is wide open amid Szczesny’s form.

After the injury to Barcelona’s first-choice goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, Iñaki Peña had the golden opportunity to prove himself worthy of being the ideal replacement for the German keeper.
This continued until the Barcelona giants entered the market for a goalie to back up Iñaki Peña. However, the situation changed in January 2025 when Wojciech Szczesny started in a Copa del Rey match with Barbastro on 4 January 2025.
Since that match, Wojciech Szczesny (Tek) has gone on to play in 9 games in all competitions without losing a single match despite making blatant mistakes.
Hansi Flick and his coaching staff now consider Szczesny a better goalkeeper than the Spanish goalkeeper, which could open the door for an exit in search of first-team football.
On the other hand, Barcelona may offer Iñaki Peña a contract renewal even if they decide to sell him, which could prevent him from leaving as a free agent.
With the recent update on Marc-André ter Stegen, the situation stays open, and the fans wait to see if Szczesny will be renewed for another season or if Iñaki Peña stays after the summer.
