With Barcelona returning back to the 1:1 rule and securing a huge new deal with Nike, it has opened up the door to strengthen Hansi Flick’s squad next summer.

So far there have been plenty of links to attackers, but one position that could receive additions is the midfield, especially if a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity arises for the club.

According to Sport, that could be a possibility as Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala is reportedly on Barcelona’s agenda.

The German is out of contract in 2026 and despite rumours of him being close to signing a new deal, nothing has yet to transpire, casting doubt over his future at the six time Champions League winners.

Musiala is one of the best players in the world and signing him would only improve the Blaugrana, making them a force to be reckoned with.

To add even more fuel to this fire, Flick was the manager who gave the now 21-year-old his debut at Bayern.

Even though the article states that the midfielder has admirers amongst Barça’s management, the club would have to make a considerable amount to cover his salary and the amortisation of his transfer.

Sport claim that Frenkie de Jong is ‘key’ to this deal as his departure would free up plenty of funds to complete Musiala’s signing.

Unfortunately, the Dutchman’s team have shown no indication of wanting to leave, making the club believe De Jong is going to run his contract down and leave Barcelona for free in 2026.

Due to this decision, the Blaugrana might have to sell some other players, with Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati currently being the closest to leaving the Catalonian side.
