In the past few weeks, the vibe around the Barcelona camp has been very high, especially after thrashing Real Madrid 5-2 in the Super Cup final.

However, on Saturday, the Blaugrana were dealt a huge blow in their hunt for the La Liga title, dropping two points against Getafe.

This result was made even worse when Real Madrid convincingly beat La Palmas 4-1 yesterday afternoon.

The result against Getafe means that Hansi Flick’s side have only picked up six points in their last eight La Liga matches, a tally that is not sustainable if you want to win the league title.

Speaking after the game, Pedri gave a very brutal assessment of the Blaugrana’s recent performances in the domestic league.

“We probably have to be perfect and win all the remaining games to be able to recover in La Liga. It’s always difficult to play against Getafe,” Pedri said.

“They defend with a low block. It’s complicated. But, we should have defended our lead better.

“I think that in these games, where you know you’re not going to have many chances, you have to score when you get them.

“When we got ahead, we should have kept that advantage and that wasn’t the case.

This week’s results mean that Los Blancos are now seven points ahead of Barca and two points ahead of Atletico Madrid, who are in second.

Flick’s side now also have to watch behind them as Athletic Club are currently tied on points, with Barca only ahead on goal difference.

If the Catalonian side really want to make a run in the league this season then something has to drastically change, and fast.
