This season, the centre-back partnership of Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez has really impressed, so much so that Hansi Flick has decided to continue starting them even though current club captain Ronald Araújo has returned from injury.

Due to this, the Uruguayan centre-back looks set to depart this January as rumours of him being ‘burnt out’ at Barça are starting to swirl.

Fortunately for the 25-year-old defender, there are plenty of suitors for his signature, with Serie A side Juventus reportedly leading the race.

Another centre-back whose future at the club is uncertain is Andreas Christensen. Even though the 28-year-old is still returning from an achilles injury, reports have claimed he is set to depart in January or next summer if a suitable offer comes in.

Despite being faced with a shortage central defenders, CatalunyaRadio, via ManagingBarca on X, have claimed that Barça could let go of another one this winter transfer window.

They have claimed that Real Sociedad are interested in signing Eric Garcia, as well as Girona who want to sign him for around €10million.

The 24-year-old’s contract with the Blaugrana ends in 2026 so selling him this January would guarantee the best transfer fee but if the club are letting Araújo leave then it could leave Flick with a severe lack of options in the backline.
