Hansi Flick most likely did not want to lose many players this January transfer window, especially when you take into account he is trying to challenge on all fronts, already reaching the Spanish Super Cup final.

However, news from Italy has confirmed that Juventus are now in talks with Barcelona for their current club captain Ronald Araújo.

Spanish outlets and other credible journalists have confirmed that the Uruguayan is Thiago Motta’s first-choice target this window.

Mundo Deportivo have also confirmed that Araújo does favour a move away from the Camp Nou in search of game time, as Flick currently prefers Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez ahead of the 25-year-old.

The report states that Araújo is feeling ‘burnt out’ at Barça and that he has reportedly told the dressing room about his desire to find a new club.

Despite being heavily linked with Juventus, it is being claimed that he prefers a move to the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been linked with a move for the centre-back, but it is unsure if they would be able to pay what Barcelona value him at this January.

Finally, the article claims that the Blaugrana will not authorise a loan move but that they will consider a permanent transfer for an ‘irresistible sum’.

It seems like the club would rather sell him now to maximise his price as Araújo and his camp are yet to make any progress on a potential renewal at Barça.

This story seems to be a very fast mover and with him being one of the best options on the market this transfer window, it will be a surprise if other top clubs do not join the race for his signature.
