Frenkie de Jong’s story at Barcelona seems to be finally coming to a sad end for all parties involved.

The 27-year-old has been a player that many clubs have been interested in since he joined the Catalonian side but Frenkie has always decided to stick with Barça.

Now, after falling out of favour with Hansi Flick, only playing 14 games in all competitions this season, with a large majority of them coming off the bench, it seems like Deco has finally made a decision.

In a report from Fichajes, Barcelona’s sporting director has made it clear that they are willing to listen to offers for the Dutch international this January.

The Blaugrana are hoping for a bid between €50-60million, a long way off the €86million they paid for De Jong in 2019 from Ajax.

An issue that could prevent any potential deal are his wages, as the 27-year-old is currently Barça’s second-highest earner on a reported €365k per week.

Another potential stumbling block is his contract length. De Jong’s deal at the Spotify Camp Nou is set to expire in the summer of 2026.

If clubs are happy to wait another year then they can get him for free instead of paying the large fee Deco is asking for.

Time will only tell which clubs come in for the Dutch midfielder but the likes of Manchester United have been previously linked with the 27-year-old.
