Manchester United reportedly submitted an impressive £83.5 million bid for Ansu Fati in 2020. Fati, who made a name for himself at Barcelona as the youngest La Liga scorer before the age of 17.

He concluded his first season at Camp Nou with eight goals in various competitions and debuted for the senior Spain team at the age of 17. Entering the summer of 2020 following a third-place league finish, Manchester United secured Champions League qualification on the last matchday.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressed dissatisfaction with the club’s failure to secure new player signings. The £83.5 million amount was disclosed by The Athletic, suggesting that United was prepared to raise their offer.

However, Barcelona managed to fend off the offer and opted to renew Fati’s contract, which featured an impressive £363 million release clause.

“We are content with our current situation at Barcelona,” revealed Fati’s father, Bori, in an interview with El Larguero. “However, my son must exercise patience in awaiting his chances, given that he plays alongside the renowned footballer Lionel Messi, considered the greatest in history.”
