Liverpool is seeking to negotiate a new contract for Colombian forward Luis Diaz, despite encountering challenges with his representatives during the summer.
A report from TeamTalk indicates that Diaz’s impressive performance at the beginning of the season has prompted the club to expedite contract talks with the goal of reaching an agreement by the end of 2024.
During ongoing negotiations, Liverpool has expressed frustration over the handling of rumors connecting Diaz to Barcelona. Speculation about a possible transfer to Barcelona escalated following public comments made by Diaz’s father about his son’s aspiration to play for the Catalan club.
He stated, “Luis has always been a devoted Barcelona fan, and it would be a dream for him to join them.” This statement undoubtedly fueled the speculation, particularly as Barcelona has shown interest in the winger despite their financial struggles.
However, no formal offers have been made, and Liverpool, now managed by Arne Slot, remains hopeful that Diaz will extend his contract at Anfield.
The club is said to be satisfied with his performance this season, having scored three goals and assisted in the Premier League. The frustration appears to be aimed primarily at Diaz’s representatives rather than the player himself, who remains dedicated and focused on the field.
