Barcelona are heading into a crucial period after suffering consecutive defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Hansi Flick’s side have little time to dwell on those setbacks, with another La Liga fixture approaching at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The Clasico loss was particularly painful, not only because of the result but also because of the scenes that followed Real Madrid’s celebrations.

Tensions spilled over in the stands during the closing stages, creating an unwanted distraction from the football itself.

Barcelona must now turn their attention towards restoring confidence on the pitch while addressing concerns about supporter behaviour.

Their next home game will therefore carry significance beyond the three points on offer.

Barcelona have confirmed, on their website, that the Gol 1957 supporters’ section will be suspended for Saturday’s meeting with Deportivo Alaves following disciplinary incidents during the Clasico.

The decision follows a report from La Liga documenting 17 incidents during the 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid, with 10 attributed to Barcelona supporters and seven to visiting fans.

The report included offensive chants and objects thrown from the stands during the visitors’ celebrations.

One particularly serious incident involved Eduardo Camavinga, who was struck with a flagpole by a Barcelona supporter as Real Madrid celebrated their second goal.

The match was briefly stopped after objects were thrown onto the pitch, while stadium security and police subsequently helped identify the alleged offender.

Barcelona explained that repeated disciplinary proceedings could expose the club to financial penalties or even the risk of a stadium closure.

The suspension is intended to address those concerns rather than permanently shut down the organised supporters’ section.

The club plans to meet representatives of the groups within Gol 1957 to establish clear commitments around acceptable conduct.

Barcelona hope the discussions will allow the section to reopen for Tuesday’s Champions League fixture against Aston Villa, provided the necessary assurances are reached.
