Barcelona have made contact with a €30m Inter Milan defender who could offer a different profile at the back.
Catalan sporting director Deco and manager Hansi Flick remain keen on adding physical stature, dynamic ball-carrying, and tactical versatility to their squad options ahead of upcoming transfer windows.
With several European heavyweights monitoring Serie A talent, the Spanish leaders have initiated preliminary conversations to understand the player’s current contractual terms.
The versatile 23-year-old French international driving this transfer narrative as an Inter Milan defender contacted by Barcelona is French midfielder Andy Diouf, as reported by Diario Sport.
The former Lens starlet has grown into an impressive operator for the Nerazzurri, showcasing robust physical presence and impressive versatility across both central midfield and converted right wing-back roles in tactical setups.
His high-intensity pressing, press resistance, and ability to cover multiple positions make him an attractive tactical asset for Flick’s system.
From Barcelona’s perspective, making direct contact with Diouf’s camp represents a forward-thinking move to address long-term squad rotation.
With potential squad exits under consideration and the need to maintain elite depth across multiple competitions, the Blaugrana view Diouf as a prime candidate who fits their sporting project.
However, negotiating with Inter Milan will require careful financial planning, as the Italian side holds the player under contract through 2030 and values him in the region of €30 million.
For Diouf, attracting direct interest from a club of Barcelona’s stature confirms his rapid rise on the European stage following his recent senior international breakthroughs.
While he remains under contract in San Siro and plays a key role in Inter’s rotation, the prospect of playing in La Liga under Hansi Flick could prove tempting.
As the transfer window draws nearer, football observers will be watching to see if Barcelona escalate these initial contacts into a formal bid to bring the French international to Catalonia.
