Manchester City are ready to test Barcelona’s resolve by advancing interest in an €80m-rated midfielder from the Catalan club.
The recruitment team at the Etihad Stadium has intensified its scouting operations across Europe, seeking dynamic technical profiles capable of enhancing their tactically fluid setup under manager Enzo Maresca.
With top European heavyweights continually monitoring talent across La Liga, the English side is ready to test Barcelona’s financial resolve with a marquee proposal.
The high-profile playmaker driving this transfer pursuit as Manchester City eye an €80m Barcelona midfielder is Spain international Dani Olmo.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed with his creative output, press resistance, and tactical versatility in Hansi Flick’s setup since returning to Catalonia.
However, with Manchester City actively looking to add established European quality to their engine room and Bayern Munich also keeping tabs on his situation, a massive €80 million valuation has emerged surrounding his potential future availability.
From Barcelona’s perspective, sanctioning any potential high-value departure involves both strategic and financial calculations.
While the Spanish star remains a central component of Flick’s immediate tactical plans, receiving a proposal in the region of €80 million would offer significant financial flexibility under La Liga’s strict fair play limits.
Catalan directors continue to evaluate long-term squad planning, weighing whether to retain key creative anchors or leverage substantial transfer fees to fund broader squad additions.
For Manchester City, securing Olmo would provide immediate tactical versatility across multiple attacking mid roles and wide areas.
His familiarity with high-intensity pressing systems and deep technical pedigree align seamlessly with Maresca’s footballing philosophy.
As the transfer window draws nearer, European football observers will be closely tracking whether Manchester City formalize their interest with an official €80 million bid or if Barcelona choose to keep their star playmaker in Catalonia.
