Manchester United in direct talks with Barcelona defender

Manchester United have opened direct talks with a Barcelona defender regarding a possible switch to Old Trafford.

Under strict tactical criteria, the Premier League club’s recruitment hierarchy is prioritizing dynamic, line-breaking full-backs capable of providing continuous width and defensive recovery speed.

With a prominent international defender seeing his starting opportunities drastically restricted at Spotify Camp Nou, decision-makers at Old Trafford have initiated inquiries regarding a prospective deal.

The out-of-favor star firmly situated on Manchester United’s radar is 22-year-old Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Having previously established himself as a frontline option in Catalonia, Balde has found his standing significantly reduced under manager Hansi Flick this season.

With tactical shifts and competition along the flanks limiting his starting role, the La Masia graduate has effectively fallen down the pecking order—prompting Manchester United to engage in direct contact with intermediate representatives to understand the parameters of a potential departure.

Balde’s explosive pace, direct dribbling ability, and recovery speed make him a highly attractive profile for Premier League football.

Manchester United have long felt the need to solidify their left-back depth, and securing a player of Balde’s age and ceiling could solve a critical positional requirement.

While the Spanish defender remains determined to fight for his place in Catalonia, his current lack of regular game time is forcing him to evaluate long-term options to safeguard his international trajectory.

For Barcelona, balancing wage structures and roster depth remains a vital operational focus for sporting director Deco and the executive board.

Barcelona could be open to discussing a structured loan move or a permanent transfer if a compelling offer is put forward in the January window.

As contact between intermediaries and English suitors continues, Manchester United stand ready to intensify their pursuit should Balde express a definitive willingness to make the move to England.
