Barcelona are considering a major financial outlay after making a €100 million Palmeiras attacker one of their primary attacking targets.
FC Barcelona are continuing their proactive scouting strategy across South America, seeking to identify the next generation of global superstars before their market valuations skyrocket.
Driven by sporting director Deco, the Catalan giants are carefully mapping out future recruitment pipelines to avoid missing out on top-tier South American prospects to rival European superclubs.
Reports out of Spain confirm that Barcelona’s scouting department has centered its attention on Brazil, keeping close tabs on a highly coveted attacking talent emerging from one of the continent’s elite academies.
The teenage prodigy situated firmly on Barcelona’s radar is 16-year-old Palmeiras midfielder Eduardo Conceição, as reported by Diario Sport.
Regarded within Brazilian football as the next major talent to come out of Palmeiras’ renowned youth system, Conceição has impressed talent evaluators with his exceptional technical poise, tactical maturity, and explosive playmaking ability.
To shield their prized asset from aggressive European suitors, Palmeiras handed the youngster a professional contract containing an astronomical €100 million release clause designed to give the Brazilian club maximum negotiating leverage.
Despite the eye-watering buyout clause, Barcelona’s interest currently remains strictly in the monitoring phase.
Under FIFA transfer regulations regarding underage players, Conceição cannot make a formal move to Europe until he turns 18, allowing Barcelona’s executive team ample time to track his physical and technical evolution against senior opposition.
Rather than rushing into financial commitments, Deco and his scouting team are using this developmental window to analyze how the teenager adapts to higher competition levels in Brazil.
As the 16-year-old continues his progression in São Paulo, Barcelona will keep a watchful eye on his trajectory ahead of future transfer windows.
