A standout €45m defender from Stuttgart is in talks with FC Barcelona, and the parties are now negotiating.

Under the direction of sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick, the Blaugrana are prioritizing young centre-backs capable of mastering the physical and tactical demands of a high-pressing, high-line defensive system.

Recognizing the fierce competition for elite defensive prospects, the Catalan giants have dispatched representatives to compile firsthand reports on one of German football’s most promising rising stars.

The player situated directly in Barcelona’s crosshairs is 20-year-old VfB Stuttgart central defender Finn Jeltsch, according to Sky Germany

The German youth international, currently valued at approximately €45 million, has rapidly caught the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs thanks to his composure on the ball, tactical intelligence, and imposing physical profile.

Barcelona recently sent a club scout to watch Jeltsch up close during Stuttgart’s fixture against Viking Stavanger, confirming their intent to evaluate how the youngster fits into Flick’s tactical vision for the squad.

However, Barcelona are far from alone in their pursuit of the highly rated defender.

European rivals Inter Milan also sent an emissary to monitor Jeltsch during the same match, while Real Madrid have recently emerged as serious contenders, keeping close tabs on his development.

With multiple continental powerhouses tracking his progress, Stuttgart hold a strong negotiating position as their prized defensive asset sees his reputation skyrocket across the footballing landscape.

From Barcelona’s perspective, Jeltsch represents the exact profile needed to build a sustainable defensive foundation for years to come.

While his €45 million price tag reflects intense market demand, Deco remains keen on laying the groundwork early to position the Catalan club ahead of rivals.

As scouting reports continue to flood back to Spotify Camp Nou, Barcelona will weigh up whether to transform their ongoing dialogue and monitoring into a formal proposal in upcoming transfer windows.
