Pedro Villar had emerged as one of the players benefiting from that approach after beginning the new campaign as an important figure in the midfield.
Barcelona midfielder suffers hamstring injury during 4-0 win
However, Barcelona have now suffered a setback with facing several weeks on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury during Barca Atletic’s 4-0 win over Pena Sport, reported by Mundo Deportivo.
The 18-year-old felt discomfort during the first half and asked to be substituted in the 39th minute, with medical tests later confirming the injury.
It is not yet clear exactly how long Villar will be unavailable, with the medical staff still assessing the appropriate recovery period.
The timing is particularly unfortunate given how quickly he had established himself under Belletti.
This is Villar’s first season with Barca Atletic registration, and he had started all four of the team’s league matches, completing the full 90 minutes against Naxara and Barbastro.
Villar has also shown his versatility by operating both as a defensive midfielder and further forward as an attacking midfielder.
Barcelona renewed his contract in August until June 2030, with an option for another season, underlining the club’s belief in his long-term potential.
For now, Barca Atletic will have to manage without one of Belletti’s regular starters while Villar begins his recovery.
