Barcelona have continued to strengthen their commercial position as the club looks to generate more revenue away from the pitch.
The Catalan giants have placed increasing importance on sponsorship agreements as they work to improve their financial position and create greater long-term stability.
That strategy has already produced a sizeable portfolio of partners, with Barca reporting more than €43 million in annual recurring revenue from Espai Barca assets alone in 2025.
The club has also continued to expand its international reach through partnerships that combine commercial exposure with wider sporting and cultural projects.
Barcelona’s agreement with the Democratic Republic of Congo was part of that approach, with the partnership also involving Barça Academy programmes and initiatives designed to develop sport in the African country.
The deal was agreed for four seasons and originally stipulated that the “R.D. Congo – Coeur d’Afrique” branding would appear on the back of the training shirts worn by the club’s professional teams through 2028/29.
Barcelona have now received positive news over the brief disappearance of the DR Congo emblem from their training kits, with the branding set to return after the international break.
The emblem disappeared from Barca’s training wear at the beginning of the 2026/27 season, prompting questions over whether there had been a wider problem with the partnership.
According to reports citing SPORT, however, the issue was simply linked to a delay in the €10 million payment due to Barcelona for the current campaign.
That payment has since been received, with the reports indicating there are no material problems with the agreement itself.
The “DR Congo – Coeur d’Afrique” branding is therefore expected to return to Barcelona’s training shirts once the international break comes to an end, while the sponsor will also regain its visibility across static advertising.
The branding had already been visible at the Palau Blaugrana, suggesting the temporary absence from the training kit was not a sign that the wider partnership had been abandoned.
Barcelona officially announced the four-year agreement in July 2025, describing it as a strategic partnership focused on promoting football, sport, peace and culture in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The financial value has been widely reported at around €40 million across the four years, with the agreement potentially rising to approximately €44 million through additional bonuses and clauses.
The partnership also gives Barca a role in developing sports programmes in the DRC through the Barca Academies system, while the future Spotify Camp Nou is planned to include a “House of the DRC” facility showcasing the country’s culture and sporting heritage.
For Barcelona, the return of the emblem means the brief interruption appears to have been resolved without affecting the long-term sponsorship agreement, allowing the club to continue benefiting from one of its newer commercial partnerships.
