FC Barcelona’s hectic deadline day operations have produced another significant squad movement as the club continues reshaping Hansi Flick’s midfield hierarchy for the 2026/27 campaign.

Having managed registration limitations and intense competition in the central pivot position, Deco and the sporting board worked to find optimal solutions for squad players seeking regular first-team minutes.

The 22-year-old La Masia graduate embarking on a fresh challenge in Spanish football is defensive midfielder Marc Casadó.

According to the official Barcelona statement, Barcelona reached a total agreement with newly promoted Deportivo La Coruña for the temporary transfer of the Spaniard through June 2027.

Crucially, the deal contains a purchase option set at €30 million, allowing the Galician outfit to acquire the midfielder permanently at the end of the season.

To facilitate the move on deadline day, Barcelona agreed to cover a significant portion of Casadó’s wages, enabling Deportivo to stay strictly compliant with domestic salary cap regulations.

Although interest had emerged from abroad—including inquiries from Bayer Leverkusen, Besiktas, and Galatasaray—Casadó ultimately prioritized staying in Spain to secure regular playing time.

Having accumulated 75 first-team appearances for the Blaugrana alongside two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups, the midfielder brings proven elite experience to Deportivo’s top-flight project.

At Deportivo, Casadó will take on a vital role in central midfield, adding tactical intelligence and defensive stability to the newly promoted side.

For Barcelona, the temporary departure provides their academy product with continuous starting minutes while reducing the immediate squad wage bill.

With all contracts officially submitted to La Liga, the midfielder is expected to join his new squad immediately to prepare for upcoming league fixtures.
