FC Barcelona officially announces that a talented midfielder faces a 6-week absence due to a severe ankle injury.

The summer pre-season period for FC Barcelona is often defined by the emergence of brilliant young talents climbing through the ranks of La Masia, earning opportunities to impress the senior coaching staff before the competitive calendar kicks off.

However, the intense demands of summer preparations and friendly fixtures frequently carry physical risks, leaving young prospects vulnerable to untimely setbacks just as their momentum builds.

Following a heavy knock sustained during recent match action, Barcelona has released an official statement confirming the midfielder is out for 6 weeks with a significant ankle issue following detailed clinical evaluations conducted by the club’s medical staff.

The player at the center of this frustrating injury update is 16-year-old La Masia sensation Ebrima Tunkara.

The teenage wonderkid, who featured prominently throughout the first team’s pre-season preparations under Hansi Flick and was presented to the fans at the Spotify Camp Nou during the Joan Gamper Trophy showcase, suffered a serious setback during a friendly match for Barça Atlètic against CF Vilanova.

The medical confirmation comes as a bitter blow to both Tunkara and reserve team manager Juliano Belletti.

Due to the expected six-week recovery timeline, Tunkara will miss the opening stretch of the reserve team’s league campaign, targeting a return to action at some point in October.

Additionally, the injury forced him to withdraw from international duty with the Spain U-18 squad, where he was initially called up before being replaced by his La Masia teammate Michal Zuk.

Despite the roadblock, Barcelona’s medical team is prioritizing complete recovery to prevent long-term instability in the ankle joint.

Tunkara will undergo conservative treatment and specialized physical therapy at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper before gradually reintegrating into full team sessions.
