RB Leipzig have thrown their hat into the ring and are now well-poised to hijack one of Barcelona’s most coveted summer targets.
The Blaugrana have been actively monitoring alternatives across Europe to strengthen their frontline as primary transfer pursuits remain delayed.
However, Barcelona’s hesitation to commit to a concrete offer has allowed ambitious Bundesliga contenders to jump ahead in the queue, placing them on the absolute verge of securing one of Europe’s most promising young goalscorers.
The high-flying Bundesliga forward at the center of this transfer battle is 23-year-old Kosovar international Fisnik Asllani.
According to a report from BILD, Asllani has excused himself from Hoffenheim’s pre-season training camp as a summer departure draws closer.
Asllani enjoyed a stellar campaign in Germany last season, posting an impressive tally of 10 goals and 9 assists across all competitions.
While the attacker is reportedly keen on the prospect of playing for Barcelona, Leipzig’s rapid intervention has placed them in prime position to finalize his signature.
Leipzig are currently ready to activate Asllani’s €30 million release clause to wrap up the transfer swiftly.
The Red Bull-backed club views the versatile Kosovar forward as an ideal fit for their high-intensity, vertical style of play.
However, a minor delay remains as Leipzig must first offload one of their current forward options—such as Conrad Harder, Romulo, or Samba Konate—to make squad and financial space before triggering the buyout clause.

Up until now, Barcelona’s sporting direction has prioritized pursuing Atletico Madrid star Julián Álvarez, treating other options purely as contingencies.
