Al Hilal attacker closing in loan move to Barcelona

Barcelona are set to bolster their attack after an Al Hilal attacker moved significantly closer to a loan switch to the Catalan club.

According to a report from Diario Sport, super-agent Jorge Mendes has personally offered Núñez to Barcelona as an opportunistic market transfer.

Al Hilal originally paid €55 million to recruit the 27-year-old from Liverpool, but after a difficult spell adapting to life in Saudi Arabia, the club management is eager to offload a portion of his substantial salary package by arranging a temporary return to Europe.

Núñez is no stranger to Barcelona’s recruitment team.

During his time at Almería, the Catalan club came close to securing his signature before Benfica eventually finalized a deal.

Club legend Luis Suárez had previously endorsed his countryman as an ideal long-term successor, and Barcelona’s scouting department has maintained positive reports on his profile ever since.

For now, FC Barcelona’s primary focus remains on pursuing Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez.

However, with financial constraints continuing to influence Deco’s transfer strategy, Núñez represents a highly accessible, low-risk alternative that requires minimal upfront transfer expenditure.

While formal negotiations have not yet commenced, Al Hilal’s willingness to facilitate a structured loan could see Barcelona accelerate discussions if primary targets prove out of reach before the window shuts.
