Barcelona have spent the summer strengthening Hansi Flick’s squad, but attention is also beginning to turn towards the futures of several established first-team players.
The Catalans remain determined to keep the core of their squad together despite continued interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Strong performances over the past season have inevitably attracted attention from outside Spain, with a number of Barca stars now on the radar of Champions League rivals.
One attacker in particular has seen his stock rise considerably after becoming an increasingly important figure in Flick’s plans.
That has now sparked fresh movement from the French capital.
According to SPORT, Paris Saint-Germain have stepped up their pursuit of Ferran Torres, identifying the Barcelona forward as a priority target after missing out on Yan Diomande, who instead completed a move to Real Madrid.
The report states that PSG have shifted their focus fully towards Ferran Torres and are confident the deal is now in a position to develop.
The Ligue 1 champions are reportedly prepared to hand the Spain international a five-year contract, with financial terms that would comfortably exceed both his current Barcelona salary and any renewal package the Catalan club are expected to offer.
It is claimed that initial discussions with Ferran’s representatives took place during the recent FIFA World Cup, where the French club explored the player’s situation before deciding whether to progress their interest.
Those conversations reportedly left PSG believing the 26-year-old would be willing to listen to their sporting project.
Leading the operation is sporting advisor Luis Campos, who had postponed the club’s search for another attacker until greater clarity emerged regarding incoming and outgoing transfers.
Now that those plans have become clearer, Torres has reportedly moved to the top of PSG’s shortlist.
The French champions also believe working under Luis Enrique, alongside the opportunity to compete for major honours while earning a significantly improved salary, makes their proposal especially attractive.
Barcelona, however, are still expected to open renewal discussions with Torres later in the transfer window as they attempt to secure the long-term future of one of their most valuable attacking players.
